Performance Based Standards (PBS) provides a regulatory framework to enable the design and development of innovative vehicle types. With PBS, the focus is road transport in Lebanon. It presents the characteristics of the sector in Lebanon and assesses the underlying causes of its major impact on air pollution. The paper also describes measures that are already being undertaken to tackle air pollution from the transport sector and proposes additional measures to improve the current conditions.
